Professor Fu Song from the School of Aerospace Engineering at Tsinghua university was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) during the 34th Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences.
The ICAS was founded in 1957 by Theodore von Kármán and is a leading global academic organization in field of aerospace. Its mission is to promote technological innovation and foster collaboration within the aerospace industry. ICAS focuses on technological breakthroughs in aeronautical science and is dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities of the global aviation industry. The ICAS executive committee serves as the organization's core decision-making body, responsible for setting strategic directions and frameworks for global aerospace technology development and cooperation.
Fu is a council member of Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Deputy Director of its International Cooperation Committee, a Fellow of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM), and a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has made significant contributions in the fields of fluid mechanics, aircraft aerodynamics, and aerothermodynamics, leading several national key research projects. His work is highly regarded in the international academic community, and he has long served as an associate editor for both the AIAA Journal and The Aeronautical Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
