In this talk, I will describe the aircraft design process, and the very important role played by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the process. Then I will discuss why high-order methods (order > 2) are required. Next high-order methods will be briefly reviewed, and sample computational results will be presented. The talk will conclude with several remaining challenges in the research on high-order methods.
